Wollongong–Port Kembla–Return (for moderate experienced riders)

Join us for a social return ride from North Wollongong to Port Kembla, designed for riders with moderate cycling experience who are comfortable riding on the road and in a group. Covering approximately 22 km at a moderate pace of around 22 km/h, this ride is a great opportunity to build confidence while enjoying the scenic coastline.

The route includes CBD traffic lights, bridge crossings, shared paths, and industrial traffic near Port Kembla, so riders should be familiar with basic bike handling and group riding etiquette.

We'll begin with a short briefing on bike etiquette and road rules before rolling out, with scheduled regroup points to keep everyone together. Meet at the North Wollongong Surf Club (look for the IBUG flag) at 6:30 am for the briefing, departing at 7:00 am and returning around 10:00 am (with time for coffee).

Please ensure you bring a helmet, front and rear lights, and a puncture repair kit.

Info about your Ride Leader
Howdy, my name is Kim. I have lived in the gong for more than 25 years and happy to call myself a local. I’ve been road riding for more than 30 years and love it. I did my NSW Ride Leaders Course in 2022.

I found it hard when I moved to Wollongong to meet people like me. I was too slow to join a bike club and too fast for the bike path. I eventually found a lovely bunch of women to ride with. My aim being your leader is to connect you with other people, help you learn bike etiquette, and ride together. Yes, there is always coffee involved.

If wet, text Kim 0417473842
