Looping Lake Illawarra!
Bicycle NSW’s Bike Planner Sarah had a great day out exploring the foreshore of Lake Illawarra with John and Sam from Bicycle User Group Illawarra Ramblers.
The Ramblers have proposed that some key gaps in the shared path network could be filled to create an iconic walking, running and riding route.
Over 55km, we followed the water where we could and looked at possible locations for bridges and links to the broader path network.
We experienced the current detours out to arterial roads via motorway on ramps and multi- lane roundabouts. Not nice!
Bicycle NSW will support the Ramblers’ work to loop the lake and we look forward to more rides there in the future - hopefully under bluer skies next time!
